It is a absolutely beautiful shop in Yarraville on Anderson street so pop down and check out a beautiful collection of loacally made goodies and vintage pieces

I am going to be doing a bounty of markets over the next three months and restocking up all of the shops!

Summer time!

Hi!

I am Lazy!~ I haven't written for sooooo sooooooo long! not because I don't care but after the crazy that was December busy busy busy!! Then a lovely Chrisy in the country, party time New Year I haven't written a thing!

Then for the first two weeks of January I have been laying around watching food safari and old episodes of 90210 (a wonderful Christmas gift from my sister!) making skirts for me to wear in this heat, and aprons for my friend to wear at their new cafe, playing tennis, going to the beach, hanging out with my dog eating banana paddle pops, and basically procrastinating doing anything but the work I have piling up in front of me!

anywho back to it and lets all have a super duper wonderful 2009!

I installed a fabo Christmas window at the wonderful Hudson the other day! All the toys are having a Christmas Picnic party eating fruit and

opening pressies! I even made mini Santa hats for the toys (so Kitchy cute)

Oh my goodness I have started seeing christmas stuff all over the place already!!

So Betty and Hamish are getting into the sprit of it and will be delivering - over the next few weeks - loads of toys to all of the shops and we will also be at the Flemington Market this saturday the 15th of November! its a Afternoon market from 3-8pm so come and check it out there are heaps of stalls and we'll be there!!! Genki is in the Cathedral arcade on Flinders Lane! and is one of my all time favourite shops!! woo hooo!

Betty and Hamish will also be having a window display for Hudson in Balaclava! how exciting the display goes up on the 17th of November is will Christmas themed!! I'm thinking a picnic Christmas Lunch for all of the gang!! all I have to do is work out how to sew a roast turkey!!!!

I had a great night out on Wednesday I went to see Robert Forster at the Toff and it was such a great time, playing a mix of new stuff and some old Go Betweens favourites! When I was a teenager I used to tape songs off the radio that I really loved and make mixed tapes - The GoBetweens we such a favourite and listening to Forester live took me back to my old tape deck.

Something un-related I go a new plant from my favorite plant place the other day! a giant indoor hanging fern! and it was only $11.90

What makes me Happy!
My Wonderful Dog Oliver! and today is his 10th birthday! he is the best dog ever! he has been the best companion all this time! He loves going for walks, eating carrots, guarding the cats, playing with his favorite toy (raptor) and most of all having cuddles with me!

He makes me as happy as I could be!

What gives me goosebumps!

Getting up way too early on a Sunday morning after going to bed at about 5.30am lugging all my stuff outside for a crappy garage sale that no one but my creepy neighbour and a couple of stragglers turned up to! (the goosebumps came while I sat for about three hours in a kitchen chair watching mine and a friends stuff on my front veranda in about 7 degree weather! - I don't think the hangover helped or the creepy neighbour staring at us) I made about $8 :(

My most treasured childhood possession, this item technically belonged to my mum who in her youth was a wonderful ballroom dancer! (mum is on the left) My favorite thing to do as a child was play dress ups! I would wear her wedding dress, and dancing dresses and anything I could sew up on the our old elna sewing machine! This was my favorite dress to dress up in, and I still have, I wore it all the time - it has a little less tule now a days, but still has all the glamor of a 1970's ball room dancing dress!

Farewell Patty Paws

Darling little Patty Paws has gone back to live with his original owner - my sister! I'm so sad to see him go.... I packed him off with a new hat, his red, yellow and green collars that I had given him and plenty of kisses to his new home in Clifton Hill!

Initially I was only meant to look after him for 1 week but that was 6mths ago I had gotten so used to him its been so sad to not have him here, he was so helpful in the studio always inspecting the work, keeping my knees warm, and watching for the mail man to deliver my letters!

I know he is super happy with at his new place and I get to visit all the time and he may even get to come and live here again in the summer! I will have to get working on a crochet swim suit! (jokes)

Patty Paws new hat

I love the autumn and winter months, I love the cooler weather the warm oranges and reds of the leaves that fall near my house and most of all I love that I always at this time of year want to crochet my heart out! I would (if I could) sit and crochet all day! but for the first and I think very funny crochet of the season.....

A new Barret for Patty Paws! - He usually sits for about 20 seconds with it on then it turns into his new favorite play toy!

Rain!

I love the cold weather and the rain! It's, my favorite season! but I don't love that it hasn't rained for so long here that when we had a thunder storm the other day my drain from the court yard was blocked by all the dirt and things the rain washed away and the water had no where to go but into my house, flooding the lounge and kitchen! It is now nice and stinky in there a little bit like wet dirty rising damp smell (I think it could be that I haven't cleaned under the oven for a while) and all the lovely bits of food and other dirt under there is now nice and wet and not getting much drier because its not hot anymore! Its been a steady pace of rain the past few days and last night the drain blocked again but we got to it in time and only a little bit of water got in - just enough to keep the lovely stinky smells around!

If that's not enough the roof has started leaking under my skylight! wetting the floor, my trusty esky is collecting the rain for me but not before the carpet got wet and created a whole other set of stinky smells!

But in better news I will be a the rose street market in May and June! I will post the dates later in the week! lets hope it doesn't rain!

crochet blankets and birthdays!

I moved a new chair into my lounge room so there would be more room for everyone to sit and I put a lovely crochet blanket on to make it soft and comfy - as soon as it was in the room Patty Paws decided that it was his chair and his blanket and we can sit on the floor!

in other lovely news its was a special girls birthday last week!! Happy Birthday Alex! can wait to catch up on Thursday! time for a few gins and good times!

How exciting! Thanks to the lovely Pip from meet me at mikes! I will be doing a toy making tutorial at the Melbourne Stitches and Craft fair next Wednesday the 12th of March at 3.30pm!!!

There will be a half hour toy making demo, goodie bags and Betty and Hamish toys!! whoo hooo!!! it should be a great day! the fair goes from the 12th to the 16th! and there will be heaps of crafty stitchy types there with stalls, demos and heaps of cool stuff for all us crafty peeps!!!

Its nearly Easter and I have made a super cute chicken made entirely of recycled fabrics and Betty the rabbit has dressed up as the Easter bunny!!! The perfect gift idea (in case you don't want to eat to much chocolate!)

A quilt I'm half way through making (its my first attempt!) so far its 150cmx150cm I think thats enough and I should put the backing on now??

My Friend called it the stawberrry shortcake quilt! I used to love strawberry short cake dolls and things when I was little!

All of the fabric I have used in the quilt were lovely gifts from my boyfriends Mum and sister who always keep an eye out for fabrics for me when they are out and about! - how sweet! as sweeet as a peice of stawberry short cake!!

My Favourite snack at the moment

Homemade Tom Yum soup!

Just add these ingredients with water, the magic tom yum paste and lots of mushrooms - all different kinds! My favourite are the dried up ones they go all soft and chewy once they have been cooked! Then a bit of coconut milk, garnish with chopped coriander and dried shallot’s - and you have the best snack ever - super healthy too!

Mid week getaway!!

Day Seven was yesterday but I had a little holiday to Lorne! so I missed out on posting! but I had the most wonderful time! Driving up via the state forest where we saw an Echidna!! walking across the road! here is a pic of him scurring into the bush!

Most of the pictures are on my Boyfriend's camera so Ihave to get them off him, but we had a family of about 17 cockatoos in the morning coming to say hi and eat some seeds , there were also Galahs, mudlarks, magpies and parrots!! it was amazing I will post some more pics over the next few days!!

then we took in a spot of golf at the Lorne golf club with the best views ever!!! then some boogie boarding in the surf! checking out the op shops and the organic shops! phew such a busy day and a half! but so much fun! i can highly recommend the mid week holiday!!

Anyways Patty Paws and Oliver are almost friends there is still some chasing, meowing, barking going on and the still haven't managed to share the bed but they will now both sit with me on the couch (the gap in the middle is where I was sitting until I got up to take the pic!)

I heart squares

I love square things I love shipping containers all stacked up with their different shades of colour , I love post office boxes as you can see! I love cubes, dice, boxes in supermarkets, light boxes, lockers, and all square things together! I also love circles too - how lovely would it be if post offices boxes came either circle or square I would be as happy as this!!

oops!! I almost forgot!

I am looking after my sisters cat that I have named "patty paws" real name Rocket man,

and I have a wonderful Pomeranian - Oliver,

who usually really loves cats but unfortunately patty paws doesn't like dogs and Oliver is scared of patty paws so I have been mediating between the two both of whom get upset when the other gets the prime spot at the foot of the bed to sleep on (they don't like to share) hopefuly over the next few weeks they will learn to get along and will be able to post a picture of they two of them together

Pip from Meet me at Mikes has gotten me on to soulemamas challenge of posting 30 days of the Everyday! A pic and a story for 30 whole days ( a challenge for me as a bit of a once a week blogger!!) Such an inspirational idea and I cant wait to see what I can find with the camera lens!!

It's a bit cloudy today but I always feel a little bit of sunshine when I wake up to a lovely rose! I try to pick a new one every few days and put it in a vase that used to belong to my darling mum!! oooh I'm being so smushie already! ( they wont all be so girly i promise!)

I hope you had a lovely Holiday and New Year! I had a lovely break; going to the country, eating stacks of yummy food, and spending time with family! a wonderful time all round!

And to start of the new year I have a new toy - his name is Frederick the Mouse! and he loves gardening, watching don't forget the lyrics (he cant sing though) and eating sandwiches!

Windows, markets and gatherers!

Hi

Oh my goodness its been so super duper busy!!!

Next week I will be having a window display at Kids in Berlin between the 6th and 13th of November on Victoria street North Melbourne! I will post some pictures on the blog on Monday night! but make sure you pop down and have a look!

Also on the 24th of November I will be a great new market in Kensington (our home turf!!) its called Market 3031 and is on McCracken street Kensington - so after to have your vote come and check out all the crafty handmade treatys that will be on display in sunny Kensington!

And very exciting news!! Betty and Hamish will now be available in Hunter Gatherer!!! how exciting! the first delivery will be in 2 weeks time! there will be 2 new special friends joining the gang too! so stay tuned!!

Roman Holiday!

What a holiday Lewis is having - here he is a the Trevi fountain in Rome! He has just thrown a coin in the fountain, traditional legend has it that if you throw a coin in the fountain it ensures a return trip to Rome! Lewis is planing on taking Geoff, Betty and Hamish on his next trip!

Lewis will be taking a train to Florence in the next couple of days so stay tuned (He tells me he plans to learn how to ride a scooter!!)

Yankee's Vs Red Sox (feathers)

What a journey Lewis is having! - The other night Lewis went to a baseball game! Although he is really a golf fan he had such a great time, he decided to go for Boston because he felt their red sox matched his lovely red feathers!!

Lewis also made a new friend while in Boston! A lovely lady called Alison! she is extra cute and furry! Lewis and Alison plan to write lovely hand written letters to one another once he returns to Australia! Here is a picture of Alison sitting on a park bench after a lovely picnic with Lewis!

Toys for little peeps!

Hello

Now available from Betty and Hamish are toys for little peeps under three years old!

Because of Australian Standards and to keep all the Little tackers safe I have to mark all my toys with buttons and plastic eyes not suitable for children under three! In case those buttons eyes look so yummy someone wants to bite them off!!

Now a selection of my toys can now be ordered with sew on felt eyes - this means all you little brothers and sisters out there can have a Betty and Hamish toy for your very own!!

I am slowly introducing them to all the shops I sell from so if you can't find one in the store please pop me an e-mail at bettyandhamish@lycos.com and I can send one to you - I will even custom make them if you want a special colour or embroidered letters!!

Lewis has gone on a holiday! At the moment Lewis is in New York city, doing all the tourist stuff here he is at times square and the statue of liberty! after the long flight over, he needed a hand to see the statue of liberty!

what a lucky owl!! stay tuned for more snaps from Lewis' holiday, He tells me he is going to Rome at some point in his trip and is going to throw a dollar in the Trevi fountain for me!!

Whoo Hoo what a great day it was on Saturday at the Rose St. market! I have posted some pictures on flickr for you all to check out!

The rain only showered us with its goodness a few times during the day and even then it was only a light shower!!! Thanks to Scott for helping us out for the day and to everyone who came down to visit!
